Call for Entry: South Delta Artist's Guild
February 27 - July 20

The South Delta Artist Guild is having their annual juried show, OIL & Water. The show is an open show for all artists of BC and has great prizes for 2 dimensional media.

Important dates are:
1. June 20th , 2008 is the deadline for slide or digital submission 2. July 20th is the deadline for accepted works to be delivered to the longhouse
3. the show will hang at the Kiwanis Longhouse Centre for the Arts from the 24th of July to the 31st of August 2008
4. Four entries will be allowed for jurying per artist. The first entry is 15.00 each subsequent entry is 10.00.

  Opera Pro Cantanti
March 02 - June 09

Sunday evenings at the Denman Place Theatre at Denman and Comox, Vancouver.
Four different operas are done in rotation (Lucia di Lammermoor, Rigoletto, Norma, and La Traviata). The operas are done "matchbox" style on a small stage, with the intention of giving excellent local singers the opportunity to gain experience in performing operatic roles.

  The Fraser Valley Gilbert & Sullivan Society Presents: Iolanthe
May 14 - May 25

Iolanthe, a fairy, has married a mortal. Horror! For this crime she was exiled by the Queen of the Fairies, and has lived at the bottom of a pond for 20 years.

Strephon, her son, has grown up as a shepherd. He wants to marry Phyllis, a Ward in Chancery. She loves him, but does not know he is half fairy. Of course the Lords of Chancery all love Phyllis and want to have her for themselves. Does Iolanthe get released from her exile? Does Strephon tell the truth about his family history? Who gets Phyllis? You’ll have to come see for yourself!

  DELTA POLICE PIPE BAND SPRING CONCERT

The Delta Police Pipe Band will be hosting a Celtic Gala Concert at the South Delta Baptist Church on Saturday May 31st at 7:30PM.

We are featuring Juno Award Winner Shona Le Mottée with her Celtic Band, the World Championship Dedanaan Irish Dancers with Meredith Coloma, Celtic Balladeer Charles McCandless and performances by the Delta Police Pipe Band of course!

Summerfest features an Outdoor Farmers Market, Classic Car Show & Blueberry Festival.
